We stayed in a two story cottage right at a beach in Kauai. I think it was one of the prettiest places I’ve ever been. I wore this dress to a luau one warm spring evening. The luau was amazing, despite being separated from my family during meal time due to a dinner rush. I love the water color palette of this dress, especially because of the blue (it’s my favorite color)! I was happy to have utilized several of these filmy, tropical-print dresses during my island getaway. I loved going to bed to the sound of the waves hitting the beach, even though I did have to get used to the roosters crowing in the morning! Dress: Marshalls, Shoes: Zara, Bag: ASOS

The Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Clutch has been out for a while, available in multitudes of color and even in the mini size. For some strange reason, I was always on the fence with this bag. I don’t know why, perhaps it was because I saw it too much on fashion blogs. The price is reasonable, but I never fell in love with it. Well that changed as soon as I saw the laser cutout version of the MAC. So gogeous and unique. The cutout pattern is mesmerizing. And the white/vanilla color is perfect for welcoming Spring. Use it as a shoulder bag (with the detachable strap) or as a clutch.

Tropical Breeze

Hello Everyone! I’m back from Hawaii! My family and I had a wonderful time… It wasn’t as relaxing of a vacation as I thought, because my little sister and I insisted on doing as much sight seeing and activities as possible. I know Davy would have loved a little extra relaxation time lying on a hammock sipping on Mai Tai’s. It was a great break though from dreary, cold Chicago weather; we all needed it. The weather in Hawaii is beautiful: it’s warm, not hot or muggy. And everything is vibrant and lush. I loved that. On this day, I wore jeweled flats, a hi-lo dress, and a bathing suit underneath to hit up a beach. I loved the tropical colors of this dress; it was perfect for a warm Hawaiian day! Silver Lining

2013 has so far been less than a stellar year. Lets just say I’ve had a heavy heart for a while. I’m an optimist through and through though, and I look for the silver lining in most situations. In life you have to deal with the good and the bad. When you face the bad, eventually you will face the good again. During times like this, I realize how valuable loved ones are. I’m thankful for my husband, my family, and my friends. Gorgeous, colorful earrings from Forever 21 to dress up a monochrome outfit. I’m loving the coral and mint color combo; it’s just so eye catching!Strawberry suede heels from Zara. Affordable at $40, and the asymmetrical cut of the shoe makes it so much more appealing.A last minute find at Target! From the designer Neiman Marcus X Target Collection from a while back. I love Marc Jacobs and this is versatile as a clutch or make up bag.Cute bikini from Target. The bikini top has a neon detachable neck strap to avoid accidents. The print was just so insanely cute!I love period pieces and here is another one of my favorites. So heartbreaking yet beautiful. My favorite Thomas Hardy book. I guarantee you it will make you cry.

Sea Foam

I fell in love with these Zara sandals the instant I saw them. The design and color is unique: it reminded me of sea foam. These will be travelling with me to Hawaii since it’ll go very well with tropical floral prints.

Getaway

I make it a point to never spend too much money on swimsuits. I mentioned on a previous post that living in Chicago, we don’t get to use swimwear too much unless we have our own swimming pool or go on beach getaways often. But I’m still always on the look out for cute ones for me and Davy. In several weeks, my family and I are going on a trip to Hawaii. I’m extremely excited because I’ve never been there and it will be wonderful to soak up some sun and see some beautiful scenery (not to mention eat some good food)! I’ve mentioned before Old Navy is a great place for swim suits. Davy’s plaid swim trunks are from there. I like the newer cut, they’re a bit shorter than the American board shorts style. My yellow bikini is from Target, which is another great place for inexpensive swimwear. Right now, I should be on an all out work out/health regimen, but the cold weather has been an all time de-motivator for me.I also got some rashguards for us too. The tropical sun can be really harsh and I know we will be out in the water so these provide some additional UV protection. These are also available online from Old Navy. I didn’t find them in the women’s section. so I bought a size L from the boy’s section for me and it fits fine. (As an added bonus, its $5 cheaper than the adult men’s.)

Here is another everyday casual men’s wear post! The weather has been getting warmer and what better time to wear the puffy vest. This one is a two tone version with a hoodie. It looks very young and carefree with skinny jeans, a button down shirt, and hi-tops. I’ve mentioned before, it’s all in the details! I love the additon of buttons on this vest as well as the different color on the collar on Davy’s shirt.

White Hot

I’ve been looking for an awesome pair of white heels, something eye catching and sultry. I’ve had my eye on this Michael Kors Adrielle, but I just can’t pull the trigger on a $275 price tag. I’ve been browsing for a few months now and I finally found a pair that I really like with a more reasonable price tag. The leather is very soft, comfortable and the shoes are well made. From online reviews people suggested to go a size smaller because the fit runs a little bigger. I opted for my usual size of 7 instead of the 7.5 for heels, and the fit is perfect.
